What about "real jobs"?
A decade ago, even 5 years ago, I was very much against the idea of working a "real job". Taking it even further, I have always had a negative attitude toward blue collar work. I have always been more of a "white collar" guy, and in the past 20+ years, I would call myself a "no collar" guy. An online guy.
A couple years ago, though, my son, who is very intelligent, told me he was thinking of getting into welding. What? Welding? I could not believe it. He is more of a computer geek, what had gotten into his mind?
I started researching about blue collar work and came to realize that there are some great opportunities out there in blue collar trades! In fact, there are a lot of jobs waiting, and not enough people trained to do the jobs!
Take it even further, and look at some of the things that Mike Rowe has to say. Mike is a smart guy, and he is also an advocate of Blue Collar work.
I have come around 180 degrees on the idea of real jobs, and especially blue collar jobs. I think there is a lot of opportunity out there! Online is great, but not everybody is into computers and such, so it might be right for you! Read my articles below to see what you think.
