I’m back! It’s been a few weeks since I have written on this site. I know that one of my New Year business resolutions was to write more frequently, but that gave way to other business resolutions temporarily.
You see, I also resolved to write 20 new eBooks this year. Well, it’s only mid-March and I can already check off that particular resolution. I have written 31 new eBooks since January 1. Over the past few weeks, I have been finishing up that task, and also building a new website where I am marketing those 31 books. I already have a bookstore site, but these books are a bit of a special niche, and they have their own website.
My new books were written based on a pretty cool idea, I think. About 6 or 7 months ago something hit me on the head and got my attention. I get a ton of e-mails each and every day. Mostly those e-mails are from people who have questions about moving to the Philippines, something that I did 13 years ago. People have all kinds of questions about different aspects of making such a move. Whenever I get such e-mail questions, I answer the question and then I save the e-mail in case I ever want to refer back to it. I literally have thousands of such e-mails saved in a special folder in my e-mail client. Well, like I say, some months back something hit me in the head and got me thinking. I realized that there were a lot of e-mails asking the same questions over and over again. I got to thinking that if people are asking the same questions over and over again, there would probably be a demand for books that answer the popular questions.
So, I went through my old emails and came up with a list of the 50 most commonly asked questions. Each of these questions had been asked of me by at least dozens of people, and mostly by hundreds of people. I realized that when you get the same question over and over like that, you tend to get tired of answering the same question, and when that happens you tend to just answer with the minimum that you can get by with. In other words, I was not doing justice to the questions with the answers I was providing. I decided to write a different eBook for each of those popular 50 questions. I decided to offer each book for $7.99, and also offer a series of special packages of books. For example, I had like 9 books that dealt with financial issues when moving, so I made a “Financial Pack” that included those 9 books. Individual books were $7.99, but you could get 9 books by purchasing the financial pack for just $29. I come up with 7 or 8 such package deals. On top of that, I decided to make an “all in” package where you could get every book in the series for $49, only about $1 per book.
So, I set out to write mini-eBooks to answer each of these popular questions. The books range from 15 pages up to about 60 pages in length. Most books are 25 to 30 pages. The books give a very detailed answer to the questions, much more detailed than I ever answered when people e-mailed me. Yesterday, I launched the new website. You know what? So far, the books have been a huge success. Another interesting fact. So far, every person who has made a purchase has bought the “all-in” package for $49. Not a single person has bought just one book! Up sell marketing really works!
My new site is called How to Move to the Philippines. I did a lot of things differently with this site than I have ever done in the past. I will be telling you about those things in a series of future posts, but don’t worry, those posts will be coming real soon, so you won’t have to wait. One reason I want to wait a bit before telling you about those new things that I did is so that I can have some time to see how effective those new methods are. I don’t want to recommend a new process to you only to find out that it was not very effective.
So far, though, sales have been great! I also feel that the site turned out very nice as well. At this point, I want to watch to see how those new selling methods work, and if they turn out to be effective, as I feel they will be, then I will implement those changes on my other sites as well.
Give my new site a look and let me know what you think! I’ll be interested to hear.
